Where is the Administrative Backup

R

Robert

Hello,
Following a lot of problems, I have to reinstall Project Server 2007 but I
want to keep the Enterprise Resource Pool.
I expect to run an Administrative Backup on Enterpise Resource Pool and
Calendars but I'm not sure how to get it for the Restore in the new install.
Any advice?
Thanks in advance

Hi Robert, the admin backup is kept in the archive database. You could just
restore the archive DB over the one in the new instance. If the reason for
the rebuild was down to software/hardware rather than configuration, then you
can restore the DBs to SQL server, and then when you create the new PS
instance you can just type in the names of the existing databases.

Another question Ben:

While the Administrative Backup is working via a queueing process, how to
check that it is really done ?

Thanks again

Fours ways of checking.
1. Check the queue job finishes successfully,
2. Click on Restore from Admin backup and check the data is there
(certainly you can do this for projects
3. Use SQL Manager to view the data.
4. Restore the Archive DB to a test instance.
