WHERE IS THE #ID OF MY WIN 98 in my installed operating sus??

I lost the original cd of my installed win 98 operating sys.In which file
there is the ID code #?.
Would you suggest to install on my pentioun I, 200mmx laptop win xp
operating system or reinstall the corrupted win 98 operating system. From
where i can download them??
My HD has 2g

you cannot download an o/s you have to buy a cd
if you want win98 try Ebay
The rest of your Q makes no sense

This is hardly an Office question but if you don't have the CD, then
you will have to buy one from Ebay or similar.

As for the Product Key... (FWIW as you don't have the CD)
If Win98 is still running, get it from the Registry with Regedit.exe
The key is
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
The value is ProductKey

You can't download an operating system and you couldn't run XP on that
machine.
