Which message am I reading? Outlook 2007

When the user clicks into the message window to copy some text to the
clipboard the currently selected message is no longer highlighted in the
message list. Is there any way to correct this issue?

Do you have Outlook Today configured as the startup folder?

On my system (XP Pro, OL 2007) the default folder is unread mail and I do
not have the issue.

On the other system (Vista, OL 2007) it does not make a difference which
folder is the default.

Playing with the color schemes does not help.
