Which user rights for administrative projects?

Nicola

Hi,

We use Project Server 2003.

A resource manager of our company wants to create an administrative project.
He has the global right to create administrative projects but when he tries
to save his project he gets an error message that he has to call the server
administrator. Does somebody know which rights I have to set?

Many thanks in advance!

Hi Dale,

unfortunately I wasn't able to access the Microsoft site for several days so
my answer is a bit late - sorry!

I do only have the German error message, it says that the resource manager
has not enough rights to create an administrative project in project server
and that he should contact the administrator. However, he has the global
right to create administrative projects. He belongs to several user groups
but this right is nowhere set to "deny". Do you have an idea how I can solve
this?

Many thanks
Nicola

Can ANYONE in your organization create an Administrative project? This
includes the Project Server administrator. If not, then log into PWA with
administrator permissions and click Admin - Server Configuration. Scroll to
the Tasks section of the permissions data grid and make sure the Create
Administrative Projects permission is set to Allow. Let us know if this
helps.

Hi Dale,

thank you very much for your help. I checked the setting, the creation of
administrative projects is set to "allow" and I have created several
administrative projects before (I have administrator rights). Any other idea?

Many thanks

Is the RM a member of any other security Groups other than the Resource
Managers group? If so, remove him/her from the other Groups and let us know
if this solves the problem.

Dale

he is member of several groups and I checked the right "create
administrative projects" for all his security groups. But I haven't checked
so far if it helps to remove him from the other groups. I'll check it.

Thanks a lot
Nicola
