Why am I constantly being asked for user name and password.

For the last few days I have constantly been asked for user name and
password.Send works fine but receive is very slow.I use Outlook 2003

And you verified the POP3 settings are what your ISP specifies?
Does your ISP offer a webmail page where you can check email? Does that
work Ok?

John,Webmail works fine (orange).pop3 setting must be correct as emails do
come through sometimes.I have tried several fixes but no solution.This is
happening on both Vista and our xp.Send/receive is also very slow.
