Why are menus disabled?

I've just installed Office 2007 Outlook (trial) and most of the action menus
are disabled; new anything, send mail, all the important ones. It replaced
Outlook 2003. What's up and how do I correct it? It's disappointing that
thing go awry on the newest trials.

Did you remove Outlook 2003 before ? You cannot have both OL2003 and OL2007 installed at the same time. From what I understand from your post you said that OL2007 overwrote OL2003. Is this correct?
