why are my pictures taking a long time to load

My website is published but my pictures take a long time to load. Is there
something I change to fix this? I don't want people leaving my site due to
this.

Don't make them any larger than they need to be. Make sure their
resolution is no higher than 96 dpi.

You can use an image editing program (PhotoShop, for instance) to change
the resolution.

Mike is suggesting that you resize and optimize your images for the web vs.
print before you insert them into your Pub document. You do that with image
editing software. You probably got something with a digital camera or a
scanner, but if you need one, www.irfanview.com has a pretty good one that
is free. I also came across another one that seems really nice:

Now, with that said you can also compress oversized images with Publisher,
and that will help. Assuming that you have Pub 2003 reference: Compress
graphics file sizes to create smaller Publisher Web pages:
