why are my tif files converting into Microsoft doc imaging files

My files are converting from tif's / tiff's into micrsoft office document
imaging files. What can I do to make this stop?

you can right click
on any tif and choose
"open with" and find
the program you
prefer to use for them.

also, look for the
"always use this
program" check box.

What makes you declare that they are being converted? Have you opened
and saved them as MDI files? If not, and you are solely basing your
conclusion on the "file type" field declared in Explorer, it is only
because you have set Microsoft Office Document Imaging set as the
default tif file handler.
