Why are some incoming messages automatically deleted?

Outlook 2003 informes me that I am receiving 12 messages and only two or
three show up. Anyone know how to fix?

Check rules and view filters.
More complete suggestion not possible with so little information provided.

The filters are off and the only rules on are two which point incoming email
with a specific address to a specific mail box.
