Why can I only enter 9 digits in a number field designated as "lo.

When I try to enter a number longer than 9 digits in a number field in Access
that is designated as a "long integer" field I receive an error message
telling me I have entered too long a number. How can I fix this?

The maximum value of a long integer is 2,147,483,647. You can enter 10
digits, it depends what digits they are, for example you could enter
1111111111, but you can not enter 2222222222. If you need to enter numbers
larger than 2,147,483,647 you will need to change the Field Size property
to, say, Double.
