Why can't I clear contents?

Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Power PC

I have a cell that was an e mail address.
I right, clear and do a clear contents.
but when I enter some text, it has blue underline.

"Hyperlink" is a formatting attribute of the cell. Either choose Clear> All,
Clear> Formats or Control/Right-Click the cell & choose Remove Hyperlink.

Not done Bob, I need to do this with an entire column and unfortunatey when I right click on a column there is no Hyperlink choice, so now I'm lost again.
