why can't I insert a music file?

I had been inserting mp3 files with no problem but was having trouble with
slide transitions while music was playing. So, I tried the music span
add-in. Now I can't even insert my music file. The message says "PowerPoint
counldn't insert a sound from the selected file." I tried to remove the
add-in but I get the same message.

Try another file and see if you get the same message. It sounds like the
particular file is invalid. Where did it come from? Did you rename it?
