Why can't I open access shortcuts!

When opening MS access files I must first open the program and then browse to
the files. If I try to open the files directly before opening access I
receive an error. Is there a known fix for this. Please help.

take a look at how the default open action is set for files with MDB
extension
you can do this by going to the folder options/file types tab page
then look for MDB and edit the OPEN statement
propably the %1 parameter is missing at the end of the command
