Yes, first thing. It works elsewhere but not in charts. I can't even get the
tw0-heded arrow. I've heard someone else (not at this location) had the same
problem and couldn't get it working.

Is the workbook shared? Among other features, working with charts is severely
hobbled in shared workbooks.

I have since found that in XP, chart elements are locked by Microsoft. So my
question has become: How can I create a chart without going through
PivotChart? (So far I keep getting automatically put into PivotChart.) OR
does anyone have a work-around for this? I hope I'm not the first/only person
with this challenge.
