Why can't I search the Microsoft News Server list of newsgroups?

In Entourage Web Services Edition 13.0.3 on my 10.6.2 2.4 GHz Unibody 13"
MacBook, when I click on the icon for the Microsoft News Server I get a very
long list of newsgroups. But if I click in the Search box and type anything
to narrow the list down, say I type "Mac" so I can see the newsgroups that
deal with Macintosh computers, instead of getting a new list of all the
Microsoft newsgroups that deal with Macs I get "All Messages" search results
of emails that have "mac" in them. Does that make sense? The same thing
happens no matter what parameters I search for or if I type Command-F
instead of starting from the "Search" box. How do I search the list of
Microsoft newsgroups?

I¹m afraid my version of Entourage (Web Services Edition, 13.0.3) does not
give me that ŒDisplay newsgroups containing² search window that is shown in
the screenshot you referenced in your response (below). Mine just says
³Search² (see attached ³Screenshot - Entourage MS Newsgroups List.gif²).
When I type anything into the ³Search² field I get a normal email search
results window that is full of 380 individual newsgroup messages mostly from
the mac.office.entourage newsgroup dated yesterday and today plus a few that
I sent to one of the MS .mac newsgroups from 4/7/08 to 8/14/08 (see attached
³Screenshot - Search of Entourage MS Newsgroups.gif²)! Is it possible that
I have my Entourage newsgroups setup wrong, or maybe that I¹m displaying the
wrong window?

Go to View menu --> Show Quick Filter.

Hope this helps!
