why can't I see data that I save to word/excel files?

I save data from excel files and word files from different computers (Like
work) and send them to my home pc via e-mail. When I go to open them, no
data shows.

Can anyone explain?

Are you editing files that were emailed to you in the first place?

Yes, the are received as attachments.

That's why, all you did was change a temp copy, not the real file. You can
try the following but no promises. You have to learn to do a SAVE AS to your
hard disk first, then make your changes.
