why can't I see page line or column information anymore?

I don't know if a recent MS update 'glitched' my setup, but since 11/13/08
(in Word XP Professional) in print layout view, I cannot see "page x of x" or
column or line info of the cursor position in my document. Has anyone else
had this problem?

Can you see the status bar at all? If not, go to Tools > Options > View and
check the "Status bar" box.
