Why can't I see what I am trying to type in Outlook?

In an attempt to fix another problem, I think I messed up some settings in
Outlook. Now when I want to send an email the screen looks like a bunch of
blue boxes and when I type it doesn't show up on the screen.
I need some quick and serious direction. Thanks!
