Why can't I "send as e-mail" in Publisher?

J

Jober

I have created a document using a Newletter e-mail in Publisher, and need to
send it as an e-mail (ie embedded in the e-mail) rather than as an
attachment. All the literature I've read says I should be able to do this,
and that under "Send an Email" under the File menu, there should be two
options: "Send as an attachment" and "Send as an e-mail." For me, the second
option is missing. Can any one help me out to fix this? Thank you!

Depending on your version of Publisher will depend on the exact answer.

Publisher requires you to have Outlook or Outlook Express set as your
default email client. To find out of this is set properly, go to Start >
Control Panel > Internet Options > Programs and be sure to set one of the
applications as your default email client.

Publisher 2002 requires you to use Outlook 2002/Outlook Express 5.0 or
newer, Publisher 2003 requires you to use Outlook 2003/Outlook Express 6.0
or newer.

Hi, I am having the same sort of problem. I have Pub. 2002 and Outlook 2002
but when I click Send current page as the message body, I get an error
"Publisher cannot mail your publication. Ensure that you can connect to your
e-mail system." I have Outlook opened and I am able to send and receive
e-mail normally.

I have DL'ed and installed Office XP SP2 and all the additional updates that
followed. I am still getting the same error, but instead of in a pop-up
window, the paperclip is telling it to me.

If I try to e-mail the file as an attachment (instead of as the e-mail body)
it works.

I have also run a "Detect and Repair" on office before all updates were
installed.

OOPS, I meant Office XP SP3 and all updates after that.

Ok here is an update on this issue. I uninstalled and reinstalled Office XP
(2002) and the problem still occured. I go to another machine (same version
of Office) and it works no problem. As I stated in earlier replies, I ran a
detect and repair on the 2002 installation, and I downloaded and installed
all the available updates (SP3 and a few more updates past that), still no
luck. I installed Office 2003 on his computer and everything works
beautifully. The user will purchase his own copy in the AM. This is just to
let anyone else browsing this post that this is what I had to do to get this
to work. I couldn't wait any longer with no replies. Thanks for everyone's
help in trying to figure out this problem.

I know this is an old post but I have Publisher 2002 and Outlook 2003 and I
get the same error. Is it possible to send email from Publisher 2002 using
Outlook 2003 without converting the document to PDF?
