Why can't I upload word web pages with scanned pictures?

I am designing a web site using Microsoft Word. I have scanned menus on to
certain pages. When I upload those pages the scanned material does not show
up. I have saved the scanned material as jpegs and gifs as appropriate. Why
doesn't it work? Any suggestions? I have access to Front Page, but am very
unfamilar using it and can't seem to design the pages I want. Help!

I don't know about Word web design, but any images you are adding will have to be
uploaded separately to a folder identical to the folder in the Word file.
