Why can't view Word 2007 in converter for XP ?

I just downloaded and installed the recommended service pack, and then the
converter so I could view Word 2007 document on my XP system. Now, I cannot
view ANY Word documents, even ones I used to be able to view, and when I try
to open one, all I get is the popup for SAVING these already-saved documents,
even if I use the "open with" option and select the converter as the program
to use. HELP !!

Not sure what you mean by "converter for XP".

If you do not have any version of Microsoft Word installed on
your computer, then you should download and install the free Word
2007 viewer from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=3657ce88-7cfa-457a-9aec-f4f827f20cac
.. This free viewer will allow you to view and print Word 97-2007
files.

If you have Word 2000 (Office 2000), Word 2002 (Office XP), or
Word 2003 (Office 2003) installed on your computer, then you
should download and install the free Office 2007 compatibility
pack from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=941b3470-3ae9-4aee-8f43-c6bb74cd1466
.. This free compatibility pack will allow you to use your
existing older Office applications to open, edit, and print
Office 2007 files. You should not attempt use the converter pack
itself to open Office 2007 files.
