Why couldn't I apply the template that I created?

I downloaded this template
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/TC011594401033.aspx
and I inserted clip art. I saved the slide as design template. Then I went
to the design pane, scrolled to the bottom, clicked browse, found the newly
created template. I clicked on it and then clicked "apply." I only had the
books and not the clip art I inserted.

What have I missed?

Appreciate advice.

Did you insert the clipart in the master of the template? And then saved as
a template.
