Why create, edit report needs a printer running?

Hi, I cannot understand why when I create or edit a report, it asks me to
install a printer? Actually, this computer installed several network
printers, however, if the server is not running, I got this error message
and cannot do anything on report until the server is started. I think this
inconvenient, anyway can get rid of this?

Access saves the printer object with the report because as Joseph mentioned
it needs to know the dimensions of the margins for each printer. Typically,
all you need to do is have a default printer installed to the machine for it
to communicate. If that default printer (the machine) is not connected, it
shouldn't matter, as long as the device driver is installed.

If you are still having problems with a new report, try installing one of
the free pdf printer objects:

Thank you for the explanation.
I don't think this is a good behavior. I hope MS can change this in the
future. Thank you anywhere!
