Why did my folders in Outlook disappear?

P

Perplexed

I work with numerous folders and when I get email, often times I will just
move it to the appropriate folder....however, the other day when I logged on,
98% of my folders were gone. I did not delete them, they just were not
there. I do delete my deleted email folder and junk mail folder every couple
of days....but that's all. I have tried to find the answer to my question
and still have not gotten an answer.

Is it possible for Outlook to just auto delete folders for whatever reason?
Please help.

What folders remain and what type of mail account do you have? Also, what
version of Microsoft Outlook do you use?

Perplexed

Here at work we use version 2007. It appears that all the folders that I lost
were add-on folders, or extended folders, and I had alot. Where I used to be
able to click on the plus sign to expand the folders, they are all minuses
now.

I have also had a similar problem.

I have:
- Outlook 2007 (12.0.6300.500) SP1 MSO (12.0.6213.1000)
- Windows Vista Home Premium, v.6.0.6000 Build 6000
- HP Pavilion TouchSmart PC

How I use:
- One user, home office...no Exchange
- There was one folder "vicky's folders" in Personal Folders with several
folders inside.
- No Rules or Filters
- All new mail comes to Inbox and as I read them I file them using "send to
folder"

Problem:
All was normal, then one day they just were not there. I have no idea where
to find them, how to restore them, or how to prevent this from happening
again.

Please help me too. ;-\

Hi Perplexe

I came across your question when having exactly the same problem - did you ever get a useful answer?

This is driving me nuts, there are emails in my shopping folders to which I need to make replies, but they've disappeared!

I'll be forever grateful if you have any advice.

regards, Colette

Which version of Outlook are you talking about. Are you talking about Outlook or
Outlook Express. They are two different clients. Aside from that you have leeched
unto a 2 year old thread.

What type of email account do you have configured in Outlook? If you
restart outlook using the resetnavpane switch, do the folder come back?

Open outlook with the /resetnavpane switch:

Close Outlook. At the Start search field on Vista or Windows7 Start menu
or in the Start menu, Run command (Windows key + R), type

outlook.exe /resetnavpane

Then press Enter (or OK button) to restart Outlook.

Note: Make sure there is a space between the words.
