Microsoft Office Professional 2007 (not genuine) & Special Tech

I also ordered from Special Tech when they were having an August sale. I
took the trouble of checking the company out and it appeared legit. I
purchased Office Professional 2007 for 3 machines.
I assumed that the reason for the much lower prices was because Microsoft is
involved in a lawsuit in Texas. The judge ordered Microsoft not to sell any
more versions because they infringed on a patent (illegal). This is what
caused me to check prices and Special Tech wasn't the only one selling much
cheaper. My assumption was they were unloading products they would be
precluded from selling if The injunction was put on hold while Microsoft
appeals.
Yes, I had to pay with PayPal but assumed if I didn't get a genuine version
I could file a complaint. After ordering, I received a confirmation from
Special Tech with my order number, an email address, etc.
When the product arrived it was not from Special Tech. It was from China
with Chinese figures so I can't say what the name is.
My version passed all validation tests. Nevertheless, I'm being informed
that it isn't genuine. Microsoft tech that I contacted said it's something
called "keygen" to alter the code.
The first computer I used to load it worked just fine which allayed all my
fear. The problem arose when I put it on my main computer even though it
passed all validations. And yes, the product I ordered claims it can be used
on 3 computers.
I tried to put a complaint in with PayPal. That's when I also saw that the
money was not sent to Special Tech. It was sent to a Chinese symbol name.
Thus I have to wonder if this Chinese company set up a phony Special Tech
site. PayPal refused to take my complaint. I also noticed that PayPal noted
that the Chinese company was 'verified.'
I then called my credit card company who filed a complaint with PayPal. It's
going to take about a month to get through all this.
I tried to file a "Counterfeiting Report" on the Microsoft website but the
site claimed that it wasn't working because of "Active X" controls. This
doesn't make any sense whatsoever since I had to allow Active X when the
service technician was testing my computer. According to Microsoft if you
have a real genuine looking disc they'll replace it when you file a report
but then they don't allow you to file a report. Does this make sense?
They don't seem to have another alternative for filing a "Counterfeiting
Report."
Now, just think about all this! Microsoft may be stuck with millions of
discs if the appellate court goes against them. Why wouldn't they start
unloading Office for whatever they can get? I suspected that's why they were
replacing (for free) Office 2007 Professional Versions -- the product they
may have to get rid of without any remuneration. (Better half a loaf than
none).
