Why do "bullets" turn to "rectangles" in Publisher2003?

A Publisher document contains small round bullets. All of these have turned
to upright rectangles a day later. Why?

It appears you have changed the font of the bullets to a font that does not
contain the character that the bullet is using.

You may have uninstalled the font used, or it may have got lost, or you may
have moved to a different system.
