why do e-mailed adobe files get converted to .dat files

files sent as .pdf get received as .dat files. Some users are able to simply
rename the suffix of the file to .pdf and others are not able to use the file
after renaming

Don't send in rich text format. Change the format of your messages to either
plain text or HTML.
