Why do emails copied to myself get placed in the Deleted Items fol

I had reason to think that my emails were not getting delivered, so copied
myself and my wife ( on a different identity on the same computer) a few test
emails. Upon pressing the "Send & Receive" button, I realised that the item
was going straight into my "Deleted Items" folder, shown as unread. the one
to my wife's identity went to her Inbox as it should. If she sent a message
to me it comes through OK.
Any Ideas?
