Why do I get a grey background on paste from Visio to Word?

I

iliad58

I've created a drawing in Visio (Professional 2003 Edition) and I want to use
it in a Word (2002) document.

The drawing is a full page in Visio on a white background - I use Ctrl-A to
select all the elements, then I paste it into Word, I get
1 - I get a full page drawing area but it has a gray background
2 - The (full page) Visio drawing is squeezed into the right hand 2/3 of the
page

Any ideas on what I need to do to get the image in box that surrounds it
with either a white or tranparent background?

I don't understand why this is happening, but someone else just posted
that they get color background on TIFF files when they insert them,
but they come out white (transparent like) when they paste the image
into a doc.

So if you are inserting the files as images...try pasting and see if
that makes any different????

Hi Iliad,

If you save the Visio file from Vision as a graphic
(not a .VSD) and use Insert=>Picture from File in
Word do you get the same result?

If you're pasting into Word are you doing so a linked
graphic? If so check the setting for field display shading
in Tools=>Options=>View.

For the sizing check the Pixel per Inch value
in Tools=>Options=>General=>Web Options=>Pictures.

You can also use the Picture toolbar in Word and
'swipe' the drawing in Word with the transparency tool,
to see if Word is 'seeing' the background as a single
color or as a gradient.
