Why do I have to select a font color (black) before I can type in.

On outgoing emails I type in addresses, subject with no problem. When I move
to the body then I have to select a font color before the typing will appear.

This applies whether I select 'Black-Automatic' or a color. If I step
outside the body and come back in I have to repeat the process.

Are you using Word and have you defined a theme that uses a different color
font?
