Why do I need Server?

Marcus Wolfe

I'm going to have about a hundred projects sharing a resource pool. I ran a
test and Project didn't have any trouble levelling the resources, using
Project Standard 2003. If I don't need to have several people working on any
given project file at the same time, and I don't have any need for web
access, is there any reason why I'd need to use a Server?
thanks

Excellent question. Project Server 2007 will give project and resource
visibility to your executives by creating custom Project Center views,
Project Details views, Resource Center views, and Data Analysis views. This
EPM solution will also allow team members to collaborate with their project
managers, providing task updates on project work. Team members can also
help to manage Risks, Issues, and Documents associated with their projects.
If you do not need any of this functionality, I would not recommend Project
Server 2007 for you. If you need this functionality, then Project Server
2007 is definitely a solution for your to consider. If you decide to use
this software, I strongly encourage you to find a competent Project Partner
to assist you with the implementation of the software. Hope this helps.

Hi Marcus,

On top of dDle's excellent advice just this warning.
Contrary to a popular belief, Server DOES NOT allow simultaneous read/write
opening of Projects!

Hope this helps,
