Why do I receive emails with email inside of them?

Frequently when I receive emails that I am being forwarded, the email I'm
being forwarded is an attachment in the email. Sometimes it's embedded
several emails deep. So once I've finally got to see what I actually want
to see, there are 2, 3, 4 or more emails open on my task bar. I hope that
that is clear what I mean. Is there any way I can disable this?

I'm using outlook 2002 BTW.
