Why do my saved Word files only open with Wordpad?

I tried the posted suggestion (Reregistering by running winword /r) but did
not see any change with the problem. I am using Word 2003, winXP

Doug Robbins - Word MVP

In Windows Explorer, Right Click on a Word Document and select Open With and
then set Word as the program to always open such files.
