Why do some people keep claiming that this newsgroup is closing down....

Why are people that seemed to be linked to
http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm website keep posting that this Google
Newsgroup is closing down (see below)? Is Google closing it down or is
this a way to redirect people to a privately held website for whatever
reason?

I see no reason why Google would be terminating this newsgroup.

Try posting on the server newsgroup as this one is closing down.

No, Don, this nothing to do with Google. Microsoft re-organized their
newsgroups and wants all server postings to appear on the server newsgroup
and not this one - that's what the FAQ says. When people read the previous
postings before posting they will, hopefully, post on the correct newsgroup
allowing this one to formally close.

I'm not buying that. Nice try though!

If microsoft was going to shut this down they would have posted it
from a micrsoft address or redirected people to a microsoft site.

By the way it's much less expensive to run a newsgroup than a
forum/website.

By the way your website blows and the fact it was written in frontpage
is sad.

Put more effort into the aesthetics and you may be able to fool more

I realize my error here, I'm sorry for the harsh comments.

Microsoft does have another location for posting project questions but
I would recommend posting to both places since people are still using
this.

Your comments are ridiculous. There are currently three newsgroups that
address every conceivable question related to any form or version of
Microsoft Project, which are:

microsoft.public.project -- Questions about the Microsoft Project desktop
application only
microsoft.public.project.developer -- Questions about VBA and software
development issues with Microsoft Project and Project Server
microsoft.public.project.server -- Questions about Project Server 2002 and
2003

So, out of curiosity, what questions do you have that can't be addressed in
one of the above three newsgroups? Mike is right that this newsgroup is
closing down. As soon as the traffic slows down to a little less than a
trickle, the newsgroup WILL disappear.
