Why do you have to divide any work field by 60 in order to use it.

I was workng on a custom formula in a custom cost field and trying to
multiply the Work field by a $ rate (another custom cost field I created).
The result was coming out too high. After several hours I finally determined
I needed to divide Work by 60. I would like to know why.

dianep,
What you see in a displayed view isn't necessarily the same as how
Project actually stores or manipulates the data. Project stores all time
related data in minutes. Therefore, if you use the time related data in
a formula (e.g. multiplying Work by resource rate), the data must be
divided by 60 to convert to hours.

Hope this helps.
