Why does a student's paper submitted by E-Mail not show head/pg#?

I teach on line; - students submit completed papers as E-Mail attachments.
One student's papers regularly arrive without header or page number (both of
which are required). I have given and repeated detailed instructions for
setting these. He declares that he has written the paper, included header
and page number (created appropriately) and saved his paper. After saving
and closing he can pull it up again and the header and page number are there.
But the version I get does NOT have either. Furthermore, when he reopens
the attachment he sent me, he sees that they are not there.

I am totally at a loss to know how to advise him. What "click" are we both
missing? Rilla Taylor, Professor, Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences

From the Tools menu, select Options and then go to the View tab and make
sure that "White space between pages (Print view only)" item is checked
under the Print and Web Layout options section of the dialog.

Thanks - good idea, and I was not aware of that function before. But in this
case he didn't. . . . I'm always glad to learn a new function though. Never
know when it will be helpful. RT

Thanks for replying. . . In this case it wasn't the problem, but I appreciate
the suggestion RT

I assume he is actually sending the paper as an attachment and not in the
body of the email?
