Why does my Word lock up after the last windows update?

After the last automatic update (yesterday morning), Word locks up when I try
to open a document through clicking on a folder in "My Documents". I can open
one by going to explorer and double clicking on one, but can not open one
regularly through word. I get the message "not responding", and I end now. I
have sent the error report two times, but I need to use this product right
now.
Any Ideas?

If you would have taken a few minutes to look through the posts in
this forum, you'd see that at least half of the messages in the last
few days have been about this exact problem.

Well Jay,
If I had been able to find this forum, I would have read the other posts. I
looked through several forums, and then just typed the question into one of
the boxes.
I have a couple of friends who work for Microsoft, but their attitude is
certainly better than yours.
Thank you for your response and help, however arrogant it is.

No one here works for Microsoft. We're all volunteers, and we're all
exhausted from dealing with this problem ourselves and handling the flood of
questions about it here.
