Why does Project Server still factor in cut tasks?

I have moved tasks from one resource to another. Now, Project Server keeps
those tasks in the former resource's task list (with an "x" next to them) and
they are leveled in with the rest of the resource's tasks!

They also appear in the NEW resource's task list, so these tasks are doubled
up in our schedule.

Short of removing the "x" tasks via SQL server, how can I prevent these
tasks still impacting the old resource's schedule?

Have you set the remaining work for the original resource to zero? Do not
remove the tasks from SQL, rather educate your resources to hide the tasks
with an X next to them.
