Why does a project named Project1 open up everytime a PM opens up a project
on the server?
Should this file ever be modified and saved?

Microsoft Project 2007 always creates a new blank project called Project1
whenever you launch the software. There is no way to disable this
functionality. Hope this helps.

So I should train Projet Pro users to close and disregard changes everytime
they close Project? What is the purpose of this project?

Hi,

Let's be clear about this.
When you use Project out of the Server environment, when you open it by
double-clicking a file, it does NOT generate a Project1 project.
When however you open it by calling the Exec it does open a project1.

Conclusion? Opening a project from Server, with MS project Pro closed, first
opens Project pro (thus generating the project1) and only then the Server
project.

Please don't ask WHY... I gave up wondering about software labs' Whys even
before Microsoft existed :))

Jan De M,

OK, When I open a project from PWA, I do not get the Project1 opening up.
When I open up Project Pro exe, I get the Project1 opening up. Is this what
you were saying?

Thanks,

Brad
