Why does publishing wizard say I am passing bad parameters?

I am a self taught web designer. I have designed a school web site that uses
the FrontPage search component and a feedback form that uses e-mail. When I
try to bulk upload my web pages using the FrontPage2002 publishing wizard, I
get the error message that bad parameters are being passed. I can upload a
few pages at a time but when I do so they do not work properly. In the
publishing wizard window, each of the pages has conflict written next to it.
I am assured by my host that the server has all the correct extensions - he
has successfully uploaded a version of my site.

I am running Windows XP professional which is fully up to date. My Office
suite which FrontPage was bundled with is Office XP Pro SP3. Please bear in
mind my inexperience with the various tools.

Please provide the exact steps you are using to try and publish your local copy to the live/remote
server.

Thanks for your reply.

I open the web and then click File>Publish Web. The web publishing window
is displayed along with a 'Name and Password Required' dialogue box. I enter
the name of the web as known by the server and the given password. 'Publish
Web' then displays the local files along side the files on the server. The
local files that contain the search facility and the contact page (form and
search) are listed with a status that reads conflict. Other files are listed
as publish or up to date. Options are set to publish changed files only and
determine changes by comparing files. The log box is checked. I click pages
and FrontPage opens the progress box with listing pages at
ftp://ftp-hosted... It can do this for a varying amount of time but then
throws up a message box stating Bad parameter passed to Web Server
Extensions. Check the information you entered and try again > OK. Clicking
OK returns FrontPage to the page editing screen.

I can upload up to about three files at a time by selecting, right clicking
and clicking 'upload selected files' but it does not upload working files -
the FrontPage automatic features disabled and the web site displays (I think)
and run time or server extension error page. Sorry, cannot be precise with
this at the moment as the web site is running an inferior version uploaded by
the ISP which works and I do not want to tinker (which of course does not
allow me to update the site.

"ftp://ftp-hosted" is not the http publishing protocol. Something isn't set
up correctly on the host's end.

And likely the FP extensions are hosed by FTP. Have them re-installed. Assuming they were
there in the first palce.
