Why does the document print additional page?

I'm using MS Word 2000. I have a mixture layouts of portrait and landscape in
the same document. When I change the page setup from portrait to landscape
after 'insert -> break - break type: page break', MS Word add a new page
before and after of the landscape or portrait page. When I check the 'page
setup -> layout -> section start (is change from new page to even or odd
page), I always have to change the setting back to new page.

Is anyone know the way to get around it? Many thanks.

thanks for the info. the printer I am using is OKI. Is there any other way to
do it (such as hotfix or update) so that I don't have to manually edit it
everytime.

Not that I know of, but it may be less prevalent if duplexing clues are
absent (i.e., "Mirror margins" and "Different odd and even").
