Why does Word stop responding when attempting to change font?

Word too slow to open. When attempting to change the font, the program shuts
down completely. Also, if directed to print a saved document, it refuses to
print PDF even though connections are in place.

What connections? Does the problem persist if you select a
different default printer in Windows? If not, then try deleting
and reinstalling the printer driver for your normal printer.
While you're at it, you might check the printer manufacturer's
website to see if they have updated drivers for your particular
operating system and printer.
