Why doesn't my outlook 2003 have a File/Import and Export command.

I have a laptop and a desktop each running Office 2003. I want to synch my
Outlook personal files but the desktop version does not have a File/Import
and Export command. This command appears on the laptop version so I can
import a .pst file from the desktop to the laptop but not vice versa.

The Outlook 2003 SP1 version number is 11.6359.6408 on the desktop and
11.6359.6360 on the laptop.

Were they both installed from the same source? Is BCM instaleld on one
computer?

Yes, both were installed from the same source. BCM was installed only on the
desktop but I stopped using it when my company bought me ACT! and required
that I use it. Could BCM be causing the problem?

Don't use Import/Export anyway - it will change modified dates of
messages. Use File-Open-Outlook Data File instead.

Copying also affects the modified date and I assume this user wants the data
in the default PST. It would need to be *set* as the default delivery PST
for no modification to be made. The issue of the change in modified date is
really not much of a worry. It only really effects archiving.

Yes. Try resetting the toolbar or customize it to add the command back.

Note that you don't need to import/export - you can just move the pst
between machines and open it using file, open, outlook data file. This is
the recommended method if you are moving email as import/export changes the
modified dates and breaks links.

Thanks to everyone, specially Bill and Dianne. I added the "import and
export" command back to the "file" command. I don't know how it disappeared.

As Bill noted, the problem with opening the .pst file is that it creates a
new personal folders file and doesn't update the default file. The date
changes don't appear to be a problem.

Thanks again for your help.
