Why doesn't my ruler fit my page in Word?

When printing a document created by someone else but amended by me, it is
printing with a large bottom margin and large right hand margin. The paper
though is set as A4, and all the margins are set to normal levels. The print
preview shows the right hand margin being very large, and on the Page Layout
view the ruler doesn't stretch all the way across to the right hand side of
the page. The Print Preview shows the bottom margin and footer as normal
size.

I'm using Word 2002

That's usually a sign that there are tracked changes or comments in the
document, and the Track Changes Options are set to show changes in balloons
in the right margin. To make room for that, Word shrinks the document toward
the upper left.

Turn off Tracked Changes, and set the option for balloons to Never. You
should probably also either accept or reject all changes in the document,
and remove all comments.
