Why doesn't Outlook close?

B

Brett

I'm running Outlook 2002 SP3 on WinXP Pro. Sometimes when I close Outlook,
I see (via task manager) it is still in memory. This affects my backup
program. Does any one know how to get it to upload from memory completely
and everytime?

Thanks,
Brett

Do you have any COM add-ins installed that might be misbehaving? I had
to fix such an issue in our own product a short time ago.

You could try incrementally uninstalling/deactivating add-ins and see
if deactivating one particular add-in gets rid of the issue. If it
does, try contacting its vendor.

Cheers,

How to I tell if there are any add-ins?

Thanks,

Ideally you should just know, as you would have had to install them
yourself (or your admin did).

You could go to Tools|Options|Other|Advanced Options and click on both
the COM Add-Ins and the Add-In Manager button. However, only add-ins
that were exclusively installed for the currently logged-in user will
be shown there. Thus, to also see add-ins installed for all users
you'll have to look at the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Oliver
