why doesn't .pst file shrink?

C

Chris

I recently split one large (>1 GB) .pst file into 2
separate .pst files - I created a new one and moved about
half the folders in the original to the new one.

When I view the size of the new .pst file, it is correctly
about half the size of the original .pst file, but the
original .pst file is still the same size as it was.

Anyone shed any light on this?

TIA,
Chris
