Why doesn't Word 2003 save my auto text entries?

I do medical transcription and I enter a lot of medical terms and phrases. I
have entered them in auto text in Microsoft Word 2000 and it was so helpful.
I now have Microsoft Word 2003 and the auto text entries that I enter only
come up during that one session of typing. If I close Word and reopen later,
the only auto text is the standard ones. None of my saved entries are
anywhere to be found. What am I doing wrong?
