Why don't any annotations WORK in Office 2003?

I have Office 2003 Basic and I cannot get the pen, nor the highlighter, nor
the text box function to work. If anyone has any insights please
help..Thank you.

Perhaps an incorrect video driver? You can get a current one for your
system from the manufacturers web site (NOT Microsoft updates). Other
causes may be evident if you describe "what does not work".
