Why is my page much wider than the background?

J

juppin

My background is 1024 in width but the page scrolls out way past the 1024 width of the background, all my pics and text are within the 1024width so why I am I seeing another 1/2 of my background (with nothing on it) past the 1024 width? How can I correct this? I have tried so many different things but keep messing my page up.

you've probably got a table mis-sized.
if you can post a link to this offending page you'll get an exact answer.

I am new to Frontpage, the page was originally made in another page builder and I transfered it into Frontpage (with a lot of probs).The second page 'Information' was also 'to wide' but some how I managed to resize it!! The url is http://www.buildingwise.com.au
thanks for any help

1) What other page builder?
2) How was it transferred into FrontPage?
3) What were the "lots of probs)?
4) How did you "somehow" manage to resize it?

1)I originally made it with 'Yahoo page builder'
2)copied and pasted and then I had to change all file destinations
2)the probs where to get it to look like how it did in Yahoo/Pbuilder
3) not sure how I rezed the second page, I was just moving and resizing things and somehow it came into the 1024 width

search for and delete this:
<div id="e14"
style="position:absolute;left:785;top:19;width:62;height:95;"><a
href="javascript:void(0)" onMouseOver="window.status='';
document.images['i2'].src='images/owl.gif'; return true;"
onMouseOut="images['i2'].src='images/owl_flip.gif'"><!--$mouseOver
%ImageAssetImpl:/images/owl.gif$--></a></div>
<div id="e13" style="position: absolute; left: 1611; top: 798; width:
34; height: 52"><!--$img

<div id="e12" style="position: absolute; left: 649; top: 518; width:
283; height: 214; z-index: 4">

no problem, glad to help.
when you do your re-do you might want to think of doping the width down to a
little bit closer to 800px wide. it looked a little "big" even when I
dropped it down to 1024.

if you view the page at 1024 x 768 it's fine, not extending beyond the edge of
the page, but I usually have my system set on 800x600 so a 1024x768 designed site
is going to force scrolling horizontally.

Try changing your screen resolution settings to 1024 x 768 (right click the
desktop....settings.....).
