I have set up an email to test the read receipt but it doesn't work. Is
there any reason why after I have check the box for a read receipt that it
wouldn't work?

Are you saying that you are sending emails to others and not receiving a
read receipt? Or you are not sending them out to people who email you?

If the former, you can't do anything about it thankfully. You can request a
receipt but the recipient controls whether or not they are sent and most
people, if they are sensible, will disable them.

I have the same problem. And no, it isn't that senders are rejecting it
either. I've sent out several "test" emails to my other email addresses with
read receipt AND delivery receipt options checked. When I open the message,
the 'send receipt' option does not show up, and I don't get a delivery
receipt sent to me either.

It has worked in the recent past, but lately I have noticed that I am not
getting anything back - read receipt NOR delivery receipt.

A bug perhaps?

Are both addresses on the same server? Some e-mail servers, especially
non-Microsoft servers, don't support passing those receipts. It could
also be getting filtered by spam filters or perhaps the mail server
administrator is blocking them.

There are a lot of reasons why read/delivery receipts may not work so I
generally don't recommend relying upon them.

If you are sending read receipt requests across the Internet to recipients
outside of your email domain, the odds of them working are very low. Too
many variables outside of your control, but in control of the email.

Read receipts work best on a common domain in an Exchange server
environment.
